reminds me a bit of 'Fantastic Planet', which was watchable, but hard to find, now. also, has a more than a bit if surrealism in it. lately, I have been ranting to anyone that will listen, about how the old science fiction had a LOT of surrealism in it, & how that's been lost, sadly

It was an animated science fiction film, which is unusual, to say the least. Very 'European'. Not really great, but it had some good features. Hardcore sci-fi fans should maybe see it, once. Simplistic, but might be good for the kids.

I hated that movie (lol) so I don't remember much about it even though I've seen it a few times, But! I looked them up (Land Striders) and you're right! They do have a resemblance!

my family goes aroud making that noise that the annoying skexsie makes the MMhhmmm!..well lets just say that the dark crystal is kinda like an inside joke for anyone who watched it

The noise that the Skeksi's make is soooo annoying!! They could have come up with something better than "MMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!" every five minutes
I agree on using real people in the movie as it MAY have made things a bit more enjoyable. I saw the movie the first time when I was a kid, about..I dunno...10-ish? Right in the prime of loving that stuff (Labyrinth is one of my favorite movies everrr, so I thought that since The Dark Crystal is similar, I would enjoy that too). I flat out turned it off and told my friend it was the stupidest thing I've ever watched in my life and walked away lol

I really hate hurting peoples feelings too, not just friends or family, but sometimes you just gotta take a stand against friends and tell them that what they like is retarded and that you aren't gonna stand around and be apart of it. She wasn't offended though so it was good lulz

The fact that Billy Crystal voiced him too also adds a lot to his character as Billy Crystal has such a unique voice and it worked soooo well for Calcifer.
