Description This is my big old man cat, Dufus. I recently had to put him down due to a tumor in his stomach and old age; he was 19. He lived a good long life, but god I miss him so much.
I am going to make a small scrapbook dedicated to him and found this picture in my files and thought I would upload it

This cat has since passed away.

I greatly appreciate comments and everyone to favorite my work

He was such a cutie I was surprised when I found that I got this shot of him looking so content and just...happy. He was always so curmudgeonly that it was a real treat when he wasn't.

He was such a grumpy cutie
It's alright though, it was his time to go. I'm just glad that I had the opportunity to put him down instead of him leaving to die alone.

I was truly lucky and cherish this picture quite a bit because he was in such a warm, cuddly and lovey mood that day!
And yes, I was truly given a gift in that he lived so long

the angle of the pic is very cool, i like how you can see the tongue in movement.
and i think he had a good life, and was in good condition until the end was close, from what you told.
so, a good life and an acceptable end without unnecessary long suffering.

Yes, he was a very happy (and you're right, healthy!) kitty
This pic was actually a total accident, but those make the best shots!

He's much happier now that he's (likely) up with my grandma, his first and rightful owner

Awwww
I remember when I was 7 and we had to put our dog Buddy down. He had cancer and was too old to have surgery

It's always so hard to go through something like that.
We had to put down our dog when I was about that age, his body was just giving up I think.
Luckily they aren't suffering anymore, and that's what's important

Without a care in the world!! So sorry to hear that you had to put him down, we put our cat Cuda down a year ago and there is still something missing. 19 is a wonderful age though and you sure did take good care of him for a very long time. he'll meet you at the rainbow bridge one day I'm sure!

I'm really hoping so And yeah, it's odd when a pet dies because the house just feels different.
Sorry to hear about your kitty, what was the reason you had to put your cat down?

Renay89 In reply to FireStump [2012-06-29 15:56:04 +0000 UTC]

He kept getting chronic urinary blockages. $2000 later in surgeries, our vet said it was most likely genetic and there was little to nothing we could do, so, we took the high road I guess. It definitely wasn't easy.

Aww poor baby How old was he?
We couldn't do any surgery on Dufus because he was so old and we couldn't afford it, so either way he would had to have been put down for one reason or the other.

Renay89 In reply to FireStump [2012-06-29 16:20:25 +0000 UTC]

Thats too bad. We really couldn't afford it either, but I know the vet, he was willing to let us do payments thank god. Cuda was only 4 years old.

FireStump In reply to Renay89 [2012-06-29 17:11:06 +0000 UTC]

Our vet is pretty stingy about that type of thing. They make it very difficult when you want to make payments on something and it makes me feel like they are looking down on you when you even suggest it, so we just end up paying right up front. They're pretty snobby =/
That's so sad about your kitty, so young. At least you made the life he lived good and comfortable though
