Third time I've read this since the first draft, and it's still just as enjoyable. (Deciding whether I like this or Last Breath more - this for the development of the case, or LB for the characters.)
Also after mulling it over, I like how the circumstances behind the murder were deeper here than in Last Breath: there, it was easier to get attached to Patchouli and thus feel upset about her death as Marisa did. With Aya, she was more deserving of her fate than Patchy was, and that much is better for developing Momiji's character (especially since she really doesn't have any canon personality). As you make more of these, perhaps you can declare the increasing complexity of each case as a testament to Cirno's improving investigative ability, as well as a grim commentary on the homicidal nature of this universe's Gensokyo.
That said, I'm looking forward to the next entry in the Chiruno series - hit me up when you need my eyes for the draft!
