Description C.W. from topleft: childhood, adulthood, in love, adulthood (featuring Elessar), motherhood.

The Elessar stories from Unfinished Tales are so beautiful that I can't help include that stone. Even though I'm terrible at drawing gems.

Blue ballpoint pen.

I love the contrast between the child Galadriel and the adult Galadriel. I especially like her expression in the adult one.

I also agree with the below review, they put everything into great words. Especially with the hands.

I guess my collection of vintage photographs must have crept into my mind when I was drawing child Galadriel's face. I always love the kids' cherub faces in those old photosΒ  Β  Shapely angular face can wait till her adulthood.

I don't know which adult Galadriel you are commenting. But I think I have attached an element of sorrow in both, though for the shaded one it is more explicitly expressed (with a tear). I think an Elf with such life experience like Galadriel's has to carry some sorrow within her look. [Both are post-First-Age portraits: it is curious habit of mine that I rarely draw First-Age portraits for those who live beyond that Age Β ]

And thank you for other kind words!

I meant the adult one next to the childhood Galadriel, at the top. And of course, Galadriel has seen so much over the years. And you're welcome!

Did anyone tell you already that the way you draw hair is gorgeous? It's so flowy and pretty and...<3 Also it's great how clean and smooth your lines look, without having a "strict" feeling about them. They aren't messy, but still kind of loose. I don't know how to describe it, but it's fantastic and in my opinion a sign of great artistic skill. <: Furthermore you are really good at drawing hands; at least the hand with which she holds her child is beatiful. Also it's amazing how the minimal shading in the bottom right picture makes such a difference, making the picture a lot more lively.
What you maybe could improve on is drawing emotions. I know that this is especially hard when drawing elves, but try varying their facial features, especially the mouth and eyebrows, more. Galadriel is looking nearly the same in all of these pictures, eventhough she's in so many different situations.
I believe you could add a lot to your drawings like that, making them even more beautiful.

Thank you for your detailed comment, that's so very kind of you! Β

And you are quite right about the expression. I am still at the beginner level of any more realistic drawing styles than anime style, and the subtlety of realistic facial expressions is, for me, still very difficult to capture. Actually I was quite afraid of ending up with dramatic comic expressions, or a group of totally different heads sharing no similarity other than hairstyle. And now it seems the result is quite opposite LOL Yes, I will take your advice, it sounds very helpful.

Oh, don't worry! I mean, you're already that good at a semi-realistic style that I never would have guessed you were just a beginner at it, haha
Expressions are hard, but often "dramatic comic expressions" are just the right way to go. They are overexagerated, of course, but they help immensely in knowing how eyebrows, eyes and mouth move in place for each emotion. Look at this for example: You don't need to draw the expressions as exagerated, but the little pictures illustrate really well how the face shows emotion. I'm looking forward to see you improve on that, it'll make your pictures even more beautiful. <3

Thank you for the tips. I actually tried several expression memes when I did anime, but never thought to extend these to realisric styles. But you are right, there are indeed some tricks in common
