Commission for of her Pokemon OC Amethyst and Riley(DPPt).Oh my god, I'm such a loser. This took 9 MONTHS for me to finish. 9 months! Meaning I didn't start until a few weeks ago. Yep.
I'm so sorry Jessica! I know you were waiting a while for this commission, and I hope it looks good. My logic stands in that my art has definitely improved since Christmas, so your commission came out really nice! I haven't played with my (babies) markers in a while, so I had the urge to go through yet ANOTHER slight change of style...just slightly, with the face coloring, mostly. I hope you like it!
I noticed something while I was doing this. Coloring is so hard for me because whenever I draw, I do so on a 6x9 in piece of paper. In that respect, the details are often TINY, making it really tricky to color. Especially the faces. I really wish I had more space to work on them sometimes. I mean like, my heads are just a bit bigger than my thumb! Not exactly easily to color. D:
Although it uses up my paper, I'm going to try and force myself to draw on my full piece of 9x12 paper (I usually trim it down to be about 8.5x11, so it fits in my printer) so I can color easier and include more details. I'll give it a shot next time~
Also, another thing. I'm kinda sick of bashing myself when I draw. I do feel strongly about my mistakes, but I get the feeling that I seem to be phishing for compliments; it also makes me sound whiney, childish, and immature. So I'll be much more mild about my self-criticism. I'll let you people notice my flaws for me, since you all say it so much nicer than harsh words I give myself. ;A; I realize that I should just enjoy what I draw, instead of wallowing in every little mistake I make! How silly of me~

Well, well, where to start? First of all, thanks a lot for making this amazing piece of art for me! It was a worthy wait, definitely!
Everything looks so... so perfect! THOSE HANDS. Really. I can't draw hands to save my life, I'm so jealous!! And you can tell the difference between female hands and male hands... Amethyst's hands look so tiny and graceful... Okay, enough talking about hands. The anatomy also looks perfect! It's a mixture between manga style and realistic style, and I love it! The shape of Amethyst's body is beautiful! You make her look even sexy with all those layers of clothes, haha.
The coloring is simply amazing, I feel in love with Amethyst's hair and the smoothness on her shirt and coat! Riley's jacket looks awesome, gotta love those shades of blue.
And the way you drew their faces is pretty cute! I'm loving this new style of yours.
On the other hand, well, there's nothing to complain about, to be honest. Maybe you kind of exceded yourself with Riley's trousers, but it's not that much of a big deal.

Wow, for such a small piece of paper, you manage to pack in a lot of detail. This is beautifully drawn and coloured. The folds are fantastic, especially on his jacket. I think it's fantastic the work you did on her boots and that you gave her feet. They look marvellous. So many people just make them tiny little things.
My only real crit is that you went a little overboard with his pants, and the fold logic that is in their other garments isn't consistent there.
You have a really delicate hand for their faces and all the details, and I'm really impressed by your work. The fabric looks so soft and supple. Congrats, this is an awesome piece.

By the way, I must share that your coloring style right now reminds me slightly of . Her marker works are wonderful. I've been especially obsessed with her for a while. Ahah~<3
I'm slightly confused on how you color. I know you give me a lot of tips, and I feel bad for asking for some on marker shading..but...? ;-;
Oh, by the way, I adore how you use your multiliners! I've been wanting to try to use different color liners depending on the color of whatever I'm inking (ex: sepia for skin, purple for a purple sweater, etc.). May I ask if you used the copic sepia multiliners, or the micron (are there prismacolor sepia too? If so, I don't own any. XD)?
.....LOLAndANotherQuestion. What shade of violet is that on the girl's sweater? I've gotten a few more violets since I last asked you about them, but I just love those colors, and don't believe I have them. I'm looking to haul in some more markers soon. /o/

Haha Yeah I was influenced by Ecthelian this time around. I've always liked their colors coloring. And skin coloring to an extent. xD
Hmm I really don't know how to explain markers. I really just study the way people color and try and imitate it by trying new and different techniques. A good method, I guess, is freehand copying something she drew (for practice) and trying to imitate the coloring exactly as she does it. Then you get a sense of how it works haha.
All my colored multiliners are Prismas, save for the purple, which is a micron. All my black is the copic multiliner.
lololol there are mistakes, but I'm getting better at making sure I don't make huge ones xD
Hmmmm I believe, in order of lightest to darkest, I used BV01, BV23, and BV04. I got BV01 a while ago with the intention of using it a lot, but I never found the chance. It's actually a really good purple. I dont actually like the violets very much. I prefer using the blue violets. The only violets I own/use is V12, V15, and V17.

I'm okay with that, I just wish I knew what colors the person used, because it's also good to take into consideration how much the colors contrast. LIKE IN ECTHELIAN'S PICTURE OF GERMANY WITH THE ITALY PILLOW. HIS SHIRT. WHAT IS THAT ASDNKLFNQEP. ;;;;
Really? I didn't know that prismas had more than black. XD I have a bunch of colorful microns and steadtlers, black and sepia copics, with black prismas. ouod

See, I use a lot of BV31, BV11, BV23, and BV25, but they're usually for adding to dark brown hair for extra depth, or for adding extra shadows in the skin and clothes. I'll have to go get BV01 and BV04 soon. /o/
I don't really like any of the Violets either. I have a handful, but none of them match up too well. XD

Really? Hair? I'm still trying to work the kinks out of coloring hair. D: Since each strand is like, a millimeter. ;w; It's impossible to color strands nicely. ANother reason why I need to increase my paper size.
