This Swainson's Hawk, named Cleo, resides at the Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christi, Texas. Cleo was rescued after suffering near fatal injuries while migrating through Texas. The Second Chances Wildlife Rehabilitation Program has provided a home to this beautiful hawk since the injuries prevented release back in to the wild. But Cleo has been a faithful ambassador to the program offering educational experiences to those who may have never had the chance to see a magnificent creature like this up close and has helped with fundraising efforts. While I don't usually photograph birds in captivity, this program rehabilitates and releases so many birds, mammals, and other sea life each year, I feel it would be a disservice to not include these images.
