Description Sherringham Point lighthouse is situated on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, B.C Canada. I lived there for one year with my parents, then moved onto another one on the other side of the island. It was always foggy on this part of the coast, and the fog horn would sound every 1 1/2 minutes, which would make the windows shake. I was happy to move to a different one.

I've always liked lighthouses. To me it feels like something from the past.
The colours of this painting are absolutely realistic and like someone else also mentioned, the seagulls definitely bring it to life.

I especially like the seagulls - they bring it alive.
There's a seaside town on the east coast of England called Sherringham where I visited a lot when I was growing up!

i had to go on this lighthouse tour once with my parents. i really didn't get it; there is this whole franchise built up around northeast coast lighthouses--all these little products and things.

but i liked the lighthouses. a lot really. i'd rather see them alone though, in a peaceful setting--much like this. I have kind of a dual memory of that trip. the bad part is all the people and their bizzare obsession with something you could tell they didn't really appreciate. but the good part--the atmosphere of the rocks and the ocean and the breeze and the solitary structure--you've captured here.

thank you;
m.

Thanks so much for you lovely comment. When my parents were lighthouse keepers, they did alot of artistic things like painting, driftwood art and my father played the guitar. It can be a lonely life, but if you have a loving spouse and hobbies, you can have a wonderful life. My best to you!
