There was quite a lot of reflection from the sun, hence the eye looks white not blue like it is meant to

Raven's eyes aren't blue, they're dark, dark brown.

Not necessarily, it depends upon the species. The Australian Raven (which is the type i photographed) when they are young have blue eyes, and when older the eyes appear bluish-white. Perhaps the Ravens (or Crows) where you live don't have this trait?

Ah. That explains it.. Common Ravens, the type in my area always have brown-black eyes.

Next time if you turn the camera the other way around you can get it's feet in and it will be esaier to focus on the birds eye/face without it being too shiny (you can always crop the pic.) *easier said than done
