Description

SK-1, ("spacesuit" or "diving suit for space") is a spacesuit that was developed specially for Yuri Gagarin . As such, it is the first spacesuit ever used. After his successful flight on the Vostok 1 spacecraft, spacesuits of the SK series were used for space flights of other cosmonauts on Vostok spacecraft, in which the cosmonauts would eject and land separately from module.

The SK-1 was used from 1961-1963

The helmet is included. The history of the inscription on the helmet is interesting. Before Gagarin's flight, the Soviet Union's symbols were not present on spacesuits. A few hours before Gagarin's launch, General designer Korolev drew attention to this. Right on Baikonur, an inscription was made, legend says that the inscription was made in the bus when approaching  to the rocket. This can be seen by looking at photos of Gagarin. In these photos, sometimes there is an inscription, sometimes there is no inscription. Why is there no inscription on this helmet? I think this helmet was taken from the warehouse of the cosmonaut training center and was only used for training)
