It's very powerful... very creepy, the realism of the photo combined with painting like that... I've never seen anything like it, nor felt what this makes me feel when looking at art. The two beings up front have this commanding presence Β but I do want to explore further... and all of a sudden I'm like "Wait, what?". Brilliant. I also love the choice of colours and tonal range, it provides for a lot of mystery, and a lot of darkness. Β

Always a pleasure. May I ask, were you going for any of this, or did you have something completely different in mind (or wherever else)?

Just about all my pictures start with a tiny seed of an idea and I like to let them evolve and come to life by constantly re-evaluating and developing them. Β This started with the birds hanging off the string and then the foreground birds were put on sticks as the picture developed. I am always looking to use familiar elements in unexpected ways. Β It sometimes feels like the picture starts to tell its own story, I am just looking for it!Β

That makes all the sense in the world. You're a really good story-teller!

Adding to that, I took a photo of some trees in our garden which my daughter had wound string around for a film she had made. Β I played with the colours and added a texture to it and got the idea to draw some things hanging from the string and play around with the colour and atmosphere. (Also added a couple more photos on top)
