so... right now im using Krita on my smaller laptop, because it doesn´t run photoshop or gimp well and its a lot slower but i guess it teaches patience.
so when are you gonna stop with this?
as soon as i moved on to a new obsession. though, some obsessions never die.

The secret to running GIMP is often to go to Edit/preferences and increase the size of the Tile Cache (the amount of the image GIMP keeps in memory).
With GIMP 2.10, turning off “View->Colour Management->Colour-manage this image” will also improve performance.
For some kinds of painting, using 32-bit linear (no gamma) floating point images is faster than anything else too.
If you still have problems with performance i'd like to know what things are slow, so we can improve them - thanks!
