Description A little fanart* of the great Shinji Mikami game** The Evil Within (called Psycho Break in Japan--what a cool name!)--mainly wanted to find an excuse to draw humans again aha~
*Possibly more fanart to come! (Correction: 90 percent certain probably more to come...quite a bit of sketches...I'm sorry everyone. --not sorry--)
**Please bear with me as Mikami created a huge chunk of my childhood, and I adore his games. (Phoenix Wright/Devil May Cry/Resident Evil/etc.)

I'm trying to streamline my style with the new hardware, and I think I've fallen in love with these soft cel-shading pieces, though they take me a while to do. Would anyone like commissions of these? I don't know how I'd price them, but I'd love to do more. Humans or humanoids though please--I don't think I'm ready to cel-shade fur or scales or feathers yet ahahaha~

Comments are welcome! c: (Optional small readable tangent below about The Evil Within, if you guys want to hear my ramblings aha~)

So um...here's Joseph with his trusty fire axe--I have to say out of all the survival horror co-op AIs I've played with, Joseph's definitely one of the more capable ones (INFINITE AXE COMBOS, and not needing to use my health items/ammo--I approve!), and his levels were of the more fun "shoot-bang" variety in the game. Though Joe, seriously--what is with you and constantly getting bodied all the time in cutscenes? You dainty little thing, so capable and yet so fragile. Stop that. --facepalm--

Anyway, the game is a whole lot of fun, and if you wanted a proper spiritual sequel to RE4 (or a proper sequel after RE4 in general) then there you have it! Not a scary game at all, though very tense and at times a tad creepy, in a "boo! haunted house!" kinda way. I can't get over the great "environmental" design most of the levels have, especially certain boss fights, such as The Keeper and Laura encounters. So I guess in a review sense, it's a decent overall game, but no gold stars for anything other than environment utilization. (Unless you count touching on nearly every horror trope in existence as a record breaker, because there's a LOT of that, and unfortunately none are particularly unique in their implementation. I could type a whole paper on this pfffff~)...8.5?

Eh, I'm still playing the game, so it's decent. I missed decent third-person survival horror. (The Last of Us is also a great third-person survival game, but not very horror--it's more towards post-apocalyptic literature in nature and a focus on tension and cinematic/narrative sequences, before anyone tries to bite me.)

Also people, if you're going to get the game, get it for PC. You can console-command the code and take the nasty blue/grey filter off everything and suddenly the game turns beautiful and saturated with lighting effects. You can also set it on 60 fps and have the option to take off the letter-boxing on the game from the latest update on the game, if you so choose. The unfiltered lighting effects are so crisp, with strong blacks/shadows and bright vibrant colours/lights--I seriously don't know why Mikami decided having everything all grey/blue was a good idea...oh well, I guess I'll never understand.

Joseph Oda (c) The Evil Within/Nakamura for making him apparently a Japanese-Canadian bishounen fella spawned from a family of ninjas. Serious!

I have you know that I flailed for a good ten minutes before I could compose myself to comment!
This.
This is adorable :3 that face is my favorite part (almost reminds me of Clark Kent, in expression and in dichotomy)
I'm loving this new shading too<3 It is so cool to see you explore like this it's amazing! Keep it up <3

Ah, thanks Aqui! I'm glad that you like it! I'm definitely sticking with this style for a while! It's really fun to do~

And pffff Clark Kent? Funny, because a friend of mine joked about how Joseph looks like a young hipster Bruce Wayne--ALL of the DC characters ahahaha~ XD (I can totally see what you mean though, if Clark Kent got Japanified, he would definitely look similar aha~)

You're very welcome :'D
Yaaay! I can't wait to see more, ah!
Oh my god XD that is so funny, I can totally see that too! It was mostly the glasses and hair style/color that got me thinking of him
Flamie, this needs to be a thing
We need to make the justice league or something into an anime :'D
It would be too funny XD

Ahahaha, well Aqui, I would argue the tv show "Teen Titans" is a pretty decent "western" take on the anime genre. I'd say it's already been done, and done really well and hilariously! (The original series I mean--not the "Go!" variety that's on TV now.) XP

That's true XD I loved that show as a kid, it was the best
Ironic tidbit- my high school art teacher actually works on the Go! series
(Too bad I'm not entirely sold in the show's premises><)

haha, it was decent up to the last season or so when they switched writers, at least to me. The "Beast Boy" season was a bit too serious for my taste.

And ah--I haven't seen any of it, but I've been told it's not that great since it's more on comedy. What a shame!

I definitely agree, especially since the show ended where it did (so Beast Boy's personality change couldn't have been chalked up to character development><) I'd love to see it revisited

Its definitely a comedy XD as long as you don't try to compare the two or keep them in the same canon, you may like it^^
its cute! for what it is, I just wish it was different

Yes, I know right? You'd think that the Beast Boy season would be the most comedic and refreshing out of all of them, but it doesn't end up like that.
And ah, interesting. I'll have to watch it sometime, though I'm afraid that my bias from loving the original will take over and ruin it for me.

Exactly! D': it can be so frustrating at times
To be honest, it took my forever to really separate the two (I still have trouble sometimes)
The Go! characters are parodies of the originals T_T

What a bummer. Comedies need to have some form of substance or seriousness on occasion to make things work. Even comedic anime has its moments. Parodies are fun, but only for short bursts--not as an overall series, at least to me.

I totally agree with you
The episodes are only 15 minutes (including commercials) but even that can be too long at times ><

Yeah, I think 5-10 minute "in-between" shows should be enough if it's just humor and nothing else (meaning if there's no plot, character development, etc.).
