The opponent's Anorith sprung into action at its owner's command, scurrying quickly up the rock face. Its eyes glinted knowingly as it slammed its sharp claws against the rock, cracks blossoming out. The wall of rock fell and the Anorith rushed forward towards its opponent on a wave of sharp rocks. One rock stood out; it looked almost like a strange fossil...

Anorith is a precious Pokemon! Despite always being a huge fan of the bug type, I never paid it much attention or used one until recently. While I find Armaldo's official design a little awkward, Anorith is just flawless and adorable. Sadly, I don't have much to say about it other than it's a good little bug and I had so much fun painting it!

lowkey super proud of how this turned out

#347 - Anorith (Old Shrimp Pokemon)

Anorith and Armaldo were predatory terrors of the sea in ancient times, striking fast towards their prey with raptorial legs and ravenously consuming them. Before being brought back as living fossils in modern times, they were once perfectly adapted for water without it damaging their tough exoskeletons. It was said that they could withstand underwater pressure up to a mile below the surface. They move with grace through the water utilizing the series of wings on their sides, their massive eyes catching all movement around them.

WOW THIS IS GREAT

*ahem* And that really has little to do with the fact that I adore insects and other arthropods, this is legitimately amazing shading and detail.Β

Pokemon Go just had an even featuring these guys and I hoovered them up!!

Thank you, I really appreciate the compliments!

Insects and arthropods are just the best. I was very excited to run around catching as many Anorith as possible when they were popping up all over the place in Pokemon Go.Β

I love Anorith!! Was always a little sad that it wasnt water type because of the creature its based on, but at the same time I guess we do have a few water type fossils already.Β

Lovely artwork! I love your design for it <3

Aw, thank you so much!

Anorith is a precious bug. It’s a shame it couldn’t be a water type; I’m glad they didn’t drop the bug typing, though <3
