Hey everyone! Here's the cover page for my new storybook. Took me about 16 hours from start to finish (including sketching and thumbnails) and I'm quite proud of it! I've opened it up for critiques so feel free to apply your critical eye to it and let me know how I did. ^^ I'm up to panel 12 in the story so far...

This one's for the work as a whole rather than just one pic.
Frankly, I'm not even sure where to begin, so blown away I am by this, and I'm not even what you'd call a hard-core 'bronie'.
Certainly looks like something you'd find in the kids' section of Barnes & Noble. Must have taken a long time just to even get as far as you have gotten recently.
You also did a good job on maintaining suspense & awe as well. Not to mention making it look like an officially authorized storyline, too.
Good luck on seeing this through to completion.

nah - I DO plan on finishing this (the whole story has about 80 panels) - and I DO plan to put very very very minor animation while I narrate to it and release it on YouTube. But definitely not a full episode.

That was one of my inspirations - I used a lot of stuff to help inspire me for this (Evangelion, Gundam Wing, Godzilla, Robotech, etc.)

wow you know i really appreciate you answering me i thought you were one of those people that dont answer people comments in happen now yay..... weeeelllll that alot of inspirations that you have mostly big robots and monsters i see how that plugs in but tell me when did you get the idea did it come to you like lighting or did you plan to make a comic but needed an idea???

It actually all came from a class project I had to do here at SCAD. I had to draw a background that was laboratory-themed, and since I was watching MLP at the time I figured that I'd make a pony-themed laboratory. That resulted in this: [link] which was the first drawing of MLP I ever did.
Equestria Daily featured it (much to my surprise!) and so I decided to, for the next assigment (which was a three-field pan with 12 characters) I'd go all out and make a huge pony picture. That resulted in this: [link] Once again, it got a feature and a TON of fan feedback.
It was at this point that it dawned on me: the perfect way to get my artwork and name out into the world. MLP-themed artwork. So I decided to make a storybook (and eventually an animation) featuring the characters from MLP. Aaaaaaand that's where that all came from!

No biggie! I got the idea from watching "Party of One" and seeing poor sad Pinkamina. I decided to cheer her up by giving her a present and the rest of the animation's story kinda spread from there.

Nah (although that'd be pretty shweet!) When I say "storybook" I mean that I approach the storytelling and the artwork as if it were a real storybook.

Critique time!!
Amazing artwork once again! The layout of each piece puts together a whole heap of questions in the viewer's mind. They see the happy Pinkie Pie, the party background, the evil-looking Mecha Pinkie and scary magician, along with what seems like a war between Princess Celestia (Nickname: Trollestia)'s guards. It's all put together very well because of the concept of the cheerful Pinkie Pie and the party background, but then contrasts with the Mecha Pinkie standing in the middle with a below eye level view, and shading that darken it's top part, which give it a sense of foreboding and evilness. Then the scene in which murky colours of pink and deep indigo portray the unpredictable and dark future. Top it all off with the evil magician who is stationed to look like he is capable of destroying Equestria.
All in all, great work on the layout!
