So here’s a little lore tidbit about the box dreg!
Canonically Flare is a dragon from a world set in a fantasy medieval setting who has many different misadventures. He has a tendency to cause mischief and mayhem and thus finds himself in all sorts of odd perilous situations. One such misadventure ended with him becoming the mascot of a brand of dwarven ale!
as some of you may know Flare is a northern short snouted poison dragon (also known as a cherry drake) his species poison however is relatively harmless when it comes to mammals so the dwarfs like to put it in there ale. This practice was started by a dwarf who went simply by the mane “Nemo”. He founded the cherry drake ale company witch slowly grew into one of the most popular brands of ale across the continent.

The story starts as many of Flares do, with him “terrorizing” a village. In the past this village had fought a costly battle to stop an ancient red dragon that was attempting to complete a dangerous dark immortality ritual. At the time of hiring Nemo the villagers had only seen flare from a fair distance and had mistaken him for a much larger and more dangerous dragon. After certain shiny relics began disappearing from the keep the town worried that the dragon was back to try again. Of course, flare had just dug a tunnel into the keep, and was unable to keep his grabby lil mitts off the shiny magic rocks. However, due to the fact that the townsfolk didn’t know this and their history with dragons were understandably concerned. Thus, Nemo was hired to slay the beast. Of course, as soon as the reality of the situation was realized Flare was captured and relocated.
The dwarf however had been looking for the perfect ingredient to add to his ale. Exactly how Nemo got the idea is still known to this day, but after sampling flares poison he realized it would add the perfect kick to his ale and the rest is history.
Flares poison is a mild neurotoxin that acts as a “hallucinogenic irritant”. When a mammal ingests it in small quantities it makes their body feel pleasantly tingly. Those who have a stronger reaction to it will find it rather spicy (this mostly happens in bird like people). Its not actually spicy but it tricks the nerves into sending false signals to the brain. Larger doses can lead to a rather unpleasant spicy feeling over your entire body and even mild hallucinations.
