Description World War II era German Panther tank.

Unfortunately, the US Army Ordinance Museum has been closed and this vehicle can not longer be viewed.

Looks like an Ausf A and an Ausf G in the back there. I really hope the closing of the museum doesn't mean the scrap yard for those monsters.

My understanding is that the exhibits from the former US Army Ordinance Museum (all indoor exhibits and some vehicles) are being moved to Fort Lee, Virginia.  The vehicles are to be divided between the new Ordinance Museum at Ft. Lee and the new National Museum of Armor and Cavalry at Ft Benning, GA.  The new armor museum has also taken all the historical tanks from the (former) Patton Museum of Cavalry and Armor at Ft. Knox, Kentucky.

Unfortunately, the new museums have not been constructed, or even funded.  The exhibits are currently in storage until museum facilities can be built.  Given the state of the world's economy, and funding priorities greater than constructing museums, I believe it will be quite some time before facilities are built.  In the meantime, these historically significant combat vehicles are not accessible to the public.

Great shot! Looks like someone lost a track wheel.

Sad but true, it's hard to find those old tanks without some sort of damage. Most of the people who fix them up or paint them do it on a strictly volunteer basis. Lots of dedication

Quite! I could fancy myself helping though. Anything to make these beauties truly shine as they once did.
