Description The new hotel in Grand Rapids, and one of my first forays into IR photography. I just got the IR filter (an unmarked 760nm off Ebay) in the mail today, so I went out shooting with it. Hit "Download" for an extra-detailed high-resolution version.

This was done on an unmodified Nikon D70s with a 760nm infrared filter (screw-on). The picture was taken on a 2s exposure at f11 under clear skies and with autumn deciduous foliage beginning to change. Color calibration was done using auto-white balance reading off sunlit grass, and conversion from raw (NEF) was done with RawShooter Essentials 2005 (because Adobe Camera Raw CS2 does not support the very low color temperature). It was moved to Photoshop CS2 where red/blue channels were mostly swapped (using a Channel Mixer Adjustment Layer), and further edits were applied.

It's such a nice hotel! I really like the colors of this photo, especially the light flair at the top of the building. So cool!

Nice, I like the way the trees frame the building. Seems like everyone takes a picture of that nowadays, but this is a really interesting perspective.

Nice shot. I like the bleached-out look you put in the surrounding buildings.

Is this taken from the Van Andel Museum?

I applied there, but didn't get the job. It's a wonderful hotel, though.
