I think issue here is not so much the subject but that you haven't captured enough of the scene to bring back that emotion of a childhood lost. The fact that you captured the bike just can't be enough, at this point it looks like an old bike. The emotion isn't there or it's not strong enough to pay attention to it. If you zoom out a bit and capture more of the swamp you'd get a whole other photo. Does that make sense?
Hope you know these aren't meant to be mean, just indirect thoughts I'm having at this point
