Oddly enough, far as I can understand, same sex relationships is not so frowned upon in the imperium. At least so long as it doesn't go into "that" extreme.

It varies. A lot. Like everything else; depending on how GrimDark the author is feeling, and exactly where you are in the Imperium, it can be anywhere from verboten on pain of death, to a perfectly acceptable alternative to heterosexuality, to the expected standard for romantic relationships with sexual reproduction being a duty and a chore, often off-loaded onto Iron Wombs.
