Despite the dire circumstances of Pest's young life, Fork tries to impart some knowledge to the youngster on her way through this city. Nature is slowly reclaiming the man-made land, and even in places of destruction there is life to be found. This mess of rubble - perhaps a construction site, ready for a new block of flats in the nustling city - is home to tenacious weeds and wildflowers. They might not sustain a growing dinosaur for long but they were certainly better than nothing! Fork prompts Pest to try a few.

If Pest was to reach adulthood (and if he was tied to the abandoned derelict city) then he would have to learn a few more things about finding food sources. He may never be well-fed (or well adjusted for that matter) but if he could learn enough ways of foraging and scavenging to keep him alive, he could stay in the city that he was most familiar with. Fork's time in this forsaken place was drawing to a close (there was only so much death and depression a dinosaur could take) so she spent many of these grimy days with Pest. Scavenging was a useful skill, and you could even look to the other inhabitants for inspiration. But it is a harsh world, and if Pest isn't careful, he could be a meal for someone else. They walk past the squabbling creatures, all clambering over a carcass that could have been another dinosaur of Pest's age...
