For George Harrison, February 25, 1943 - November 29, 2001.

The world would call you The Quiet One. That's what first caught my interest, because it was something I could relate to, something I myself was often seen as. I grew to realize that was not a fair assessment of you, just as it wasn't a fair assessment of me either. For that, I feel a connection to you, and that alone was what made you my favourite before I understood just how much there was to you.

There's so much to admire about you, and it's sad that not enough people realize it. For so long you were the one people didn't pay attention to, the Beatle that was somehow passed over in favour of the songwriting powerhouse that was Lennon-McCartney and the good-natured awkward humour of Ringo Starr. You were there, always dependable and never saying much, chiming in with your harmonies and churning out incredible solos when they were called for, drifting back and forth to share John and Paul's microphones. It took a few years for people to realize what you were really made of.

You wowed everyone with your solos, and would do so further with your own pieces of songwriting with The Beatles, most notably While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Here Comes the Sun, and Something. You led the group into participating in Indian culture and brought variety into their music. When it was all over, you came out with All Things Must Pass, which is considered by many (myself included) to be the finest solo album made by a former Beatle. You were responsible for the first benefit concert in the Concert for Bangledesh, setting an example that continues to be followed today. You let your spirituality guide you and were unafraid to show it. Your love and your music defined you and continue to live on even today.

Because of that, because of your kind heart, gentle soul, understated talents, amazing guitar playing skills, gorgeous voice, dependability, humanity, intelligence, true words, strong beliefs, sarcastic surliness, sense of humour, and of course those eyebrows and that smile of crooked teeth... you will always be the Beautiful One to me.

You are remembered and dearly missed, George. I wish that I could properly convey just how special you were and how dear you are to me. Thank you for your life and everything you gave. Hare Krishna.
