PART 1: Anatomy of the 'basic-model' Grimoirekin.

'Grimoirekin'
Premise
     In their daily life, people tend to think of time and space as being made up of set points. One place is separate from another and one time can't overlap with its neighbor.
       What if I told you that's not true?
    What if they were really all piled on top of each other like a neglected stack of paperwork?

Maybe you only need the right key to access them.

     That's what the Grimoirekin are, in a sense, but they are so much more. Historically, the term 'grimoire' refers to a book of spells. The Grimoirekin are creatures of magic with the ability to perform minor spells within their own aspect (more on that later). The real power goes to the Master of the Grimoirekin who will be given free reign over their Grim's Dimension (also more on that later) as well as magic that grows more and more powerful with willpower and practice.
     The act of accessing a grimoirekin's Dimension is the first spell a Master will learn, usually quite by surprise. One day, they'll be wishing they were somewhere or somewhen else and then 'bang!' suddenly a door will appear where there wasn't one before. The Door can take many forms when it first appears, but whenever it is summoned thereafter it will appear as an ornately carved wooden door with metal fittings. Engraved upon the Door is the Grimoirekin's personal Sigil which seems to represent something conceivable only to the Grim's magically-wired minds.

Life cycle & genders
      Nobody knows for sure where a Grimoirekin comes from. Some say they've simply always existed within their set Time and Place, they just need to be called forth. The question is, who does the calling? There is no known life-span as nobody has ever seen a Grimoirekin die.
      Grimoirekin are typically social creatures, commonly flitting across Dimensions to pay visits. (However, a Grim can only ever truly exist in their home Time and Place which is why you can see their home skyline through the ventral surfaces of their wings. They can visit other times and places by casting solid mental shadows of themselves.) A word of warning: Any damage done to this apparition will be transferred to the original!
      Grimoirekin are 80% male, 18% female and 2% asexual. Females are slightly larger and more muscular than their male counterparts and come into heat only when deeply in love. Otherwise, there are no gender-specific traits. As a rule, the rare asexual Grims are the strongest magically but live a solitary existence, rarely seeking out a Master. When Grimoirekin breed, a rare event indeed, there is usually only one offspring which will usually be much more magically adept than either of the parents. The Grimoire'kit's Dimension will usually be an addition of the Time of both parents and a hybrid of their Places. Aspects for the offspring are unrelated to the parents.

Dimensions
     Each Grimoirekin unlocks a specific combination of a Time and a Place (For example, 'Midnight-Lake' or 'Dawn-Thunderstorm'). As you can see from that last example, places can also be events. Some times are more powerful than others, with the lowest magic levels at dawn and increasing through the day. As the sun sets, the times become more and more powerful and rare with the highest magical potential right before dawn.
     Magical potential is less tied to places. There are, however, exceptions to this rule which will be elaborated on when the time comes.

Aspects
     The color of a Grimoirekin's eyes and scales is mainly determined by its aspect. Each aspect is governed by an emotion.
Common: Red - Anger(active) | Orange - Thoughtfulness | Yellow - Fear | Green - Joy | Aqua - Calm | Blue - Distant | Indigo - Curious | Purple - Anger(passive)
Rare: Copper - Stubborn | Silver - Pride | Gold - Greed | Black - Absence of Emotion | White - Madness
