Description I keep getting asked about the hand tools I use for carving my wax pieces, I've described most of them in the tutorials but mos people it seems just see bits and pieces of them. My fault I guess for posting them as a series of deviations. So I'm posting this photo to just show the most common tools that I use for carving wax and some clays. Like I mentioned before most of them are dental tools or wax tools that have been reshaped into spoon scrapers or chisels. Some are just exacto blades that have been ground down. The one on the right is a foredom handpiece that holds the various rotary burrs at the top of the photo. The second to the right is the handpiece for a wax pen that melts the wax for building up material or making repairs.

I am asked constantly to recommend tools that are available for purchase. There are plenty of wax carving tools on the market, some very cheap and some pricey. The reason I hesitate on plugging a particular set of tools is Most on the market are either way too large for the pieces that I make or they come in sets where I only find one of the tools useful, hence the grinding down and reshaping. Hope this is helpful.
