i looked up baldung...good stuff. thank you for taking the time to explain some of your ideas, this helps me get a better understanding. funny you should use "milk and honey" as a metaphor for goodness. i do this in my work as well, particularly with milk. (haven't posted my figurative work with the hive hat yet)

i do love the internal honeycomb concept .(i love bees too. my brother kept them and i helped him capture a swarm once) already dripping honey hearts are popping up in the ribcages of my imaginary (yet to be painted, probably will never make it to paper, as usually happens) girls.

It a pleasure - hope the swarms and the dripping honey hearts see the light of paint and make it from your imagination to the sunlight surface of a canvas or two

so beautiful and strange. i love how her body is full of honeycomb! i don't know what anything means. thats not really a problem but sometimes its nice if the artist gives some insight into their thought process...

Its sort of about what's hidden - and the difference between the surfaces we see, the exterior, the facade - and whats under the skin - the masks that we hide behind? the hidden faces of the cactus man the witch and the honeycomb/madonna; who touches upon the idea of goodness "milk and honey", of sweetness and of sacrifice. (The selfless sacrifice of bees for the good of the hive). There is also the refference to the passing of time the child growing into a young woman becoming the aged crone the witch probably influenced by Hans Baldung and his paintings depicting the three ages of women Baldung was also into witches So witches, masks, religion and what lies beneath and other stuff that sneaked in...... you did ask. Oh and I just love bees
