the only thing that stumped me about this level when i finnaly made it there was what did the portle in its central area actualy lead to or was it actualy connected to The Well Of Souls itself.

That can be an hypothesis, but anyway we don't really know if it's connected or not to the well of souls, because it isn't mentioned in the games
