Alphonse is in the other room, regailing their librarian host with a story about a vandrill. The stew in front of her smells far too rich, and the words on the page are starting to blur as she stares down at them, barely comprehending. It's a bad day, not a reflection of how she's been feeling regularly, but it's still a cause for concern. How much longer can she keep going? Why can't she shake the feeling that she might fall behind if she can't keep up anymore? Her joints ache, dully, and she curses softly under her breath.

Her paw comes to her face. Scrubs at her eyes. She turns her attention down toward the small novel before her, recommendations for Eisgar on how to remain battle ready for as long as possible even in... Less than ideal states.

Lock's gaze on her burns. An accusation, if ever there was one, judgement in plush, snowy fur.

She sniffs. Flips the page.
