Right now, the only way to play as Luigi in Super Mario Maker is through the Mario costume with Luigi's modern colors, obtainable with a Luigi amiibo figure. In a future update, they should do this:Give Mario a shake, and you get Luigi. Unlike the Mario costume, you'd actually be able to play as Luigi in all four games. For Super Mario Bros. 3, they should use an 8-bit version of Luigi from SMB3 in Super Mario All Stars. For Super Mario World, they should use Luigi from SMW in Super Mario All Stars.

Not only should Luigi's physics from SMB2JP return, but also the ability to change the title from Super Mario Maker to Super Luigi Maker and back again on the title screen.
