Description
This is my baby. Her name is Myra. I got her in October. Yes she is a flute, and I did name her. She is very pretty. She is laying on Bach's e minor Sonata. ya...//edit
I updated this file because I took the picture when I was in 9th grade..and I've learned a little about editing since then. All I did was clone out a few missing pixels (which weren't really noticeable but they bothered me), adjust the levels a little (which helped bring out the gold in the lip plate and darkened the notes), and size it down (because it was huge before). If you're desperate to have the old one back, just let me know...but yeah.
To answer some of the common questions: The flute is a Gemeinhardt KGM Limited, solid silver, 10K gold lip plate with engraving. I didn't choose the engraving, it just happened to be there on the kind of flute that I needed at the time. (I took the risk of buying off ebay...not advised, but this turned out to be a great purchase =]). I have been playing since 2001 (longer than some of my students have been alive...I try not to think about that, as it makes me feel old!)

Beautiful engraving. But Gemeinhardt is known as a not very good instrumentΒ and isΒ not very well made. They are longer anyone's top choice in flutes and is known to be stiff and a bit unresponsive. It's not preferred as a student instrument or professional instrument and is ranked withΒ Armstrongs and Jupiters. I read questions online asking if Gemeinhardt is a good flute and people sayΒ they fell off their chair laughing and people saying no one in the professional flute world plays a Gemeinhradt.Β I prefer Trevor JamesΒ and Powell (Powell is what I play and it is absolutely beautiful). I have also heard Haynes are very good. The photography is beautiful though with a great reflection of the notes.

Very pretty, I'm still learning on how to better play my flute. Never heard of the lip plate engravings until now, it looks very gorgeous.

I heard about flutes with engravings on it and it's amazing. You're flute it amazing, and gorgeous. I also named my flute, i called her Luna because she is darker than another flutes in my school. It's pretty awesome, but sadly she is dying

The design is actually engraved into the lip plate, so it looks exactly the same as when I took this picture nearly 8 years ago.

That is gorgeous. I also play flute and have for 16 years give or take a month or two. My baby was recently STOLEN by some pig from a music shop I will never go to again so now I have a used one that I do not like that much. It's off-putting to even think of using this stranger flute.

You're lucky! Mines already chipping and its black plated so it will look really bad when it gets to a certain point and naming your flute is not strange mine is named Rosalyn, and I love her to death but shes got a few months left

I have a Gemeinhardt (3SB) too. The only bad part is that the screws like to get loose and make it sound yucky >.< I have had it for like 5 years...I really want one with a gold lip plate...Maybe I'll get a separate head for it.

This is a gorgeous flute! I used to play (it's been about 10+ years), and I found my old flute recently. I'm very excited to get it cleaned up and start playing again.
