Description
A bit of a spooky piece in the spirit of October ^_^ I do hope its not too much of a deviation from my normal cute work, but I thought with Halloween on the way a little eeriness wouldn't be too bad ^_^
I don't know what Fluttershy is stalking from that perch, but she seems quite intent on it ^^

I hope this critique doesn't upset you. I actually can't draw at all, but I recognize what disappoints me about this.
I know the intention is to be spooky, but that fell away when I looked at the thumbnail and thought to myself, "why is the coloring splotchy". When I saw the full image, I was more disappointed, because I can clearly see the outline of Fluttershy in a non-threatening pose. As it stands, it just looks like you colored outside of the lines of a coloring book and made the background dark grey. Your lineart is flawless, though. The piece just fails thematically.

And I have to agree with FtK as well; the splotchy-ness is the style she's going for. Maybe I can add, less saturation and less light, and make her eyes glow red or something. It would certainly add up your 'scary' points!
And maybe add fangs. And fangs that drip blood.
Those are just suggestions! And one last thing, I notice the mouth lineart overlaps the eye, is that intentional?

Thank you for agreeing with me Maltese ^_^ although dripping fangs might be a bit much xD I'll definitely consider it next time ^^ And yes her mouth overlapping her eye was intentional. I do that from time to time when I want characters to seem a little unstable. Either they are staring too wide, or grinning too big, either way...thats why I do it ^_^ nice catch

It doesn't upset me ^_^ of course you're entitled to your opinion, and I always want to hear them, whether they are in favor or opposed to my work ^_^ That said, I do have to defend the splotchy appearance of the work. I feel that the haphazard coloring adds to a discordant atmosphere of the picture that clean coloring would have detracted from. I have plenty of pieces that are neat and clean, I didn't think that this one should be one of them ^_^
but I do appreciate your critique, and thanks so much for taking the time to let me know your thoughts on it ^_^

Maybe she sees apples? After seeing that she still has fangs, I like to think she has occasional self-control issues when it comes to big, shiny, juicy, apples.
Her stare and smile, combined with the texture, paint splatters, and darker colors definitely set an eerie mood.
