A lot of have been said in the previous comment, so i'll just say that a good shot, i like the contrast and espacially the postion the tree at the total left and the bycicle to the right, that make a double interesting contrast, as it have been said, without the boat it would be better. A very good software for arrange color and B&W is Ligtroom, basically you must pay, but if you can find it on the web, it's very cool, you can had an option name : silver effex pro which is dedicate to the B&W post production.

and with the position of the man i was very lucky. i took the photo and looked at it afterwards and there was the man on the bike! i got that split second of a moment!
i'm going to change into a school for photography, so I'll just wait and see what i have to buy for them. but other than that, do you mean silver effex pro is the same as lightroom ?

this is an interesting shot. the high contrast black and white really gives it some punch.
room for improvement:
1. its a little too contrasty around the bicycle as it makes them blend in with the background behind them. if you are doing a manual bw conversion, you could make the background closer to middle grey against the black of the bicyclist so we could see them a bit better.
2. the boat in the background, it could be cloned out because it is a bit of a distraction. same with some of the bright white spots in the lower portion of the image against the black. they almost look like dust.
3. im a big opponent to visual watermarks. it won't prevent people from stealing your images as it would take about 4 seconds to remove, and all it ends up doing is taking away from the image.

first i thought that the boat is disturbing too, but i left it there because this picture was a snapshot and i wanted it to be the way i took it. i can't remember how i did this bw, but unfortunately i know that i can't change it to grey or so.
a big think to me is the watermark. i know that removing it is damn easy, but with this one i put it there on purpose because i liked the way i affected the photo (:
