Some characters from a dream I had a few days back.

The story is sort of incoherent because I mean it was a dream, but basically the girl there is a princess. Horses were going missing all over the kingdom, and one day she finds out that hers (the one on the right there) is missing. So she goes looking for him. She finds a bunch of rats, and the little one on the left there lets her know he can help her (they don't talk or anything, he just basically grabs her attention and nods/shakes his head). He takes off and she follows him. The boy is a friend of hers, and he sees her running after a rat so he naturally catches up to her to try and figure out what's happening.

The most vivid part of the dream I remember is the three of them crossing a huge fenced off dirt field surrounded on all sides by dead trees. They jump the fence on the left at the end of the field, and there's a small pool of water. They get into it, and everyone gets pulled under by some weird water demon things (who are assholes and like to mess with people occasionally, thus boyo there's weird appearance). The pool is actually a portal thing to an alternate dimension, and they're spit out on the other side. Now everyone (save for rattie who knows what he's doing) is confused and wants to go back, but the water demons only let people in for free, and returning has a price. So they decide its best to try and find the missing horses and just figure out how to get back after.

and according to the end of my dream, despite the main universe being medieval, the alternate one is modern day and the rat can drive a car. Somehow. We're going to choose to ignore that

Other stuff:
> There's universal communication in the other universe - so the rat can talk there, as can all other animals. However, intelligence isn't always changed too much, so there's a pretty big range.
> All cryptid creatures found in the normal universe are actually creatures that have crossed over from this one - dragons, demons, trolls, etc are all commonplace in the alternate world. Humans and normal animals are rarer (although they do naturally occur there too).

If anyone has names I'd love some! I think the rat's name started with an L, but I don't know anyone elses'.
