That was... Unexpected A quasi- realistic, semi- drawn, semi- painted, dark digitally coloured piece bathed in purple lighting is one of the last things that ever came to my mind when thinking of your works- but then again, I never thought that a year in an animation school is going to leave you just going back to your old artistic ways the first thing you'd be granted a leave In the long run, it certainly proved to be a successful experiment And since there was no one looking at your hands while you were conducting it, I'm pretty sure no one will question whether it was an ethical one
Sorry, but I just have to ask- did you give Caius that gruesomely tired expression on purpose? He looks like a paragon of patience, as though he wanted to reply to you: "You're welcome, but... Let's never do it again, okay?"
Your strongest points shine through even in pieces done in a completely diffferent medium and style The hair is just as awe- inspiring as ever- getting down every single lock of it, giving the entire hairstyle a tangled, messy look and making it look so silky at the same time... I'm only starting to grow to appreciate how extremely detailed your anime hairstyles always were now, but this hairstyle is madness The clothes are another obvious strong point, especially the scarf holding the hair; the tiger strips coloured in the purple light are a real sight Of course, that comes without mentioning the feathers. Just a single look at all the intricate details left me completely baffled, they look real enough to be picked up from the surface of the screen The blur effect is dumbfounding as well, especially on the second feather
There are also some minor issuesin here, however, and I thought I'd bring them to your attention in hopes that you still don't mind tiny bits and pieces of critique from your more artistically- challenged watchers First of all, the one visible eye is a little problematic- for one thing, it's a little too small in comparison to the entire face. It's just my guess, but it somehow makes me think of difficulties of switching between the manga/ western animation and semi- realistic styles; I can imagine you trying hard to break away from the exaggerated eye size used in both, however it made the proportions a little bit off the mark. The eyes and the mouth are the biggest, most visible and most pronounced parts of the face, and they take a pretty big part of it I'm pretty sure I'm preaching to the crowd here, but I believe making each eye about as wide as the mouth is a rule of thumb in a semi- realistic style Of course, it also means the eyelids will be a little bit more open, even with the eyes closed almost to the slithers ^_____^
More importantly, however, I believe the eye is misaligned to the left- it's way too close to the nose sellion As you did a pretty good work on marking the cheekbones and the eyesocket, it makes the entire face look unnaturally thin, with a very broad temple and the ear placed very far away from the cheeks ^____^' Again, I don't want to sound as though I'm trying to teach a professional her job, but it shows really well in the horizontal flip Doing it a couple of times during the sketching and lineart phase could probably solve the entire problem
That said, the three points you listed made me giggle It sounds like the exact things I was smashing my teeth on all the time As far as the first problem and RAM usage goes, I'd strongly recommend you to try out Paint Tool SAI Compared to PS, it's specifically designed as a drawing device- it's downgraded, lacking a lot of options, tools and filters in exchange for lower system requirements, better run on slower machines and a smoother support of the tablet... Perfect for getting all the core work done and then switching to Photoshop for advanced re- touch I think it still comes as a 30 days free trial. Give it a shot!

liked his theme song... yes I got the collectors edition for PS3 and got sound tracks. Feel pity for him either way.
Nice job by the way.
