Monkey D. Luffy has one defining feature that makes him recognizable to others. His straw hat.
He's always wearing it. His Jolly Roger has it. Even his nickmake is "StrawHat""
But the hat is not his. He's borrowing and taking care of it until he can return it to it's owner, "Red Hair" Shanks.
But not too long ago, we found out Shanks is not the original owner of the straw hat.
As he was about to start his journey, a young Gol D. Roger asked a young Rayleigh to be the first to join his crew.
The future King of the Pirates seemed to have a striking resemblance to Luffy.
I say "seemed", because we didn't get to see his entire face. His straw hat was obscuring it...
