Nice choice of papers and colors and great design - just enough detail without being too busy.

Thank you! I spent a long time (not too, too long ago) being "too detailed" so it's nice to hear that that has subsided!

Well, for me it has. I think most casual observers still go ga-ga over the ultra-complex WOW factor, not realizing that just because it took weeks to cut out doesn't make it a good design. I like to compare it to a musician who can play a million notes a second, but says nothing, opposed to one who can play just a few and gets to heart of the piece and communicates a ton of emotion.

If the scene REQUIRES loads of detail (like a ship's rigging), fine, I'll do it. But I'd rather think first and decide if there's a way to SUGGEST a lot of detail and let the viewer fill in the blanks.

That's exactly my thinking as well. I loved the initial response of the WOW factor to crazy-precise pieces that were so unnecessarily complicated. But I've become a bit more subdued and favor graphic and bold with a mixture of intricacies over insanity for insanity's sake.

Glad you and I are on the same page because I love your work!

Thanks! The basis for the palette was what the guy's favorite colors are, but originally they were way too 70s for me to handle, so I cooled them off with the aquas I think.
