I know. I'm just noting the similarities in the hairstyles between this interpretation of Nyx's Nightmare form, and Rarity's Nightmare form. Which I find fitting. And the fact that, in the context of Past Sins, Nyx has Nightmare Moon's spirit (and by extension, Nightmare Rarity's spirit) inside her is the reason why I find it fitting.

Why is the carryover fromLuna's Cutie Mark on her, though? She didn't have anything like that in her original design or on her Cutie Mark. Nor does any other nightmare pony have anything similar on their Cutie Marks, with the aforementioned Nightmare Rarity's Cutie Mark being three blue sparkles among multiple white sparkles for example.

I don't really know now. I guess I wanted to do a mark-up of the character. After all, the fact that the splotch on Luna's rear was natural and not apart of her Cutie Mark wasn't revealed until AFTER Pen Stroke wrote Past Sins.

Doesn't change the fact that Nyx didn't have such a thing on her flank.

And if it's not a part of Luna's cutie mark, I would imagine that one would wonder why it wasn't mentioned in The Journal of the Two Sisters.
