The 3rd of the ignored dragons.This is a Mushussu, also known as Sirrush.
Mushussu is a cosmic dragon in the mythology of ancient Babylon and Mesopotamia. It's considered to be the guardian of the Ishtar Gate of the city, associated with the God Marduk.
I find it very surprising that this is one of the most ignored dragons. It looks pretty cool, even a bit majestic.
But so far I've only seen about 2 other people on DA draw this dragon.
So I decided to bring this dragon to your attention. It shouldn't be ignored.
I actually kinda liked how my version came out. The only thing I might wanna change are the lion-like paws...I think they're a little big...
I wonder which dragon I should draw next...

ther's a book for dragon species wich has this one in it ... ..... I really like how your drawing came out, mushussu is one of my favourite dragon species..... I love its back legs and its eyes...

ha i'm reading this book called"how to Raise and keep a dragon"it is a guid book and this was in it!!! it looks exactly alike exept for the left front paw was lifted up and the tail

I agree 240 % (two hundred and forty percent) that this creature must not be ignored !
I believed it happened though because the other "cool and popular" fantastic creatures (griffins, wyverns etc) were used in european heraldry, dragons were imperial symbols in China, Japan etc while Mushussu's heritage is middle east...
I think the proportions are just right, you don't need to modify them. However, more colors -full color- would have been great ! Soooo.... pleeeeeeeease

Man...your interpretations of these guys are great! I was so impressed by your Piasa, and intrigued by your saying you were going to draw more of these forgotten gems, I had to look to seee if you did. All three are excellent! And the female Piasa is cool too

I was gonna do more of these dragons, but then I felt like drawig other stuff, plus I'm too busy with school lately. So I never really got back to drawing some more of these ignored dragons. I might draw some more when I have more time. But it probably has to wait till summer.

Probably.. I'd like to ink it, but all my art pens are fresh out, thus the reason for most of my pictures to be in pencil. I could also colour it, but I like colours to be done along with the ink. (colour on something with pencil lines tends to hide them)

Small correction, it's spelled "mushusshu" for the R-sounds, often symbolized by KH.
I heard this from a man working on the field, an expert, if you will.

I've seen alot of different spelling ways for this creatures name. I just used this way of spelling because that's how I found it in a book. It also seems like a common way to spell it when you check the internet. I barely found any results on your way of spelling it though. When I search on google it has little results and google makes a correction to search for Mushussu.
But I guess Mushusshu could also be a possible way of spelling, it just didn't have much results.
I have seen 'mushrushu' and 'mushhushshu' though. And it's also known by the name Sirrush from what I could find.

That all seems plausible, and it would be hard to figure out more than pronunciation, seeing as it comes from Babylonian picture-writing.
May I ask the author of the book?

I have a book by John Topsell, in the begining it has a cool 'list' of dragons and a compleate history on them and stuff like that. It's a shame how many of these dragons are ignored.
