FOX IN THE HEN HOUSE
Sioux pushes the broken herd homeward.
------
He led them with an unwaivering faith that he was headed in the right direction. None of the new mares that Sioux had savagely won knew where they were headed and had to simply trust in the crazed stallion. He had calmed down after the first few days from the fight. They knew his strength now and what he could do. He was not sorry. Their relationship was anything but loving, yet the knowledge that their lives would be safe with him in the treacherous winter that now consumed their existence put the herd at a tentative peace. Now was not a time to battle for power- it was a time to survive. Food was hard to come by, and the cold of the night ate away at their very souls.
Sioux mumbled continuously in their still moments of his family, as well as the better situation they were sure to be in.
His ranting promised warmth, food, and a place to rest.
But for now, he drove them. Drove them the unknown safety that they all now began to plead for. Were they too going mad like their new leader? Was the winter depression settling upon their very backs and keeping them hoping for more?
It seemed only Sioux had the faith to push onward and upward.
