Severide let the dark mare scream and squeal and run about the yard like she was dying.
She wasn't. She just wasn't getting her way and she was not a fan of doing things she didn't want to.
He'd gotten the halter on and that was all well and fine. The lead - neutral.
Lunging in a circle? No. No she threw a world class fit and Severide only stood by as she shrieked.
Maybe it's not worth training her - like her mother - leaving her to brood out with other mares.
Maybe that is a more productive use of time - if he could lead her to and from pasture, then that was all he could wish for.

So yeah, Strix in general is a mad-mare [mostly because of a lack of handling and experience].
