Okay no. Let's rewind on this lil piece here. Jack, Raf, and Miko have known each other for the length of less than a day. While on the battlefield, Raf is tripped up while trying to avoid being hit by the decepticons. Instead of just pulling Raf out of the line of fire (which is completely possible given Raf is smaller and younger than Jack and can be picked up by Jack) Jack shields Raf with his body.

Jack, even though he'd wanted no part in any of this, was willing to use himself to defend a kid he barely knew.

Optimus had the right idea in mind choosing Jack later on for certain missions. This kid would make one hell of a Prime himself.
