I have decades old wooden garden bench that has become too rickety for people, but I keep it in an overgrown part of the yard because it's still one of my cat's favourite spots.

This is actually a new bench (few months old...I put it together myself too!) but I left a section of my lawn to grow long and liked how it grew up through the bench. I've mown it since because it got a tad too long but I'm glad I got a few shots of it first.

Of course, it looks new. Not sure why I thought it was important to say than mine was old--oh, well, because I meant to indicate that it is HER bench only now. Yes I like how the vines of Yellow Archangel come up and try to engulf it, but I cut it back.

Ah, but old things always have a nicer atmosphere, if you know what I mean. I'll prefer our bench when it has weathered a bit.

i believe your kitty feels there are too many plants taking over her bench and would you please remove them so she might bask in the shade a touch more comfortably lol

Ha ha - ironically, I mowed that area of lawn yesterday and the bench is now clear. It was my area of long grass but it was getting a bit too long so I decided to give it a hair cut! When the kitty comes back into the garden (she belongs to a neighbour) she's going to hate that the long grass is gone (she loved hiding in it) but at least she'll have the bench!
