Regret (Aftermath)

Max and Nikki were walking away from the camp counselor’s office hand in hand. Before they could get to the forest for their walk, they ran into the rest of the camp, who were looking at them with sly smiles and giggling. Max and Nikki were looking at them completely confused.

“What the fuck are you all looking at?” Max asked rather rudely, wanting to get back to being alone with Nikki. Instead of answering his question, Nurf came up next to him.

“Wow dude, you are smooth. Never knew you had it in you,” Nurf commented, patting Max on the back so hard, that Max started coughing. After recovering from his surprise attack, a sudden realization hit him.

“WAIT! YOU ASSHOLES WERE LISTENING IN THIS WHOLE TIME!? WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH ALL OF YOU!?” Max yelled, while Nikki was standing next to him in a stunned silence with a heavy blush coating her face.

“We’re sorry, but we just couldn’t resist,” Nerris responded, still giggling at the whole situation. Harrison came out from behind her, and showed Max and Nikki the inside of his hat.

“Congratulations you two!” Harrison exclaimed before his hat shot confetti at Nikki and Max. A hand then came out of the hat, holding a picket sign that says ‘Congratulations!’ in red ink.

Rather than continue to respond to the onslaught they were receiving, Max grabbed Nikki by her good arm, and continued on their way to the woods. Before they went into the woods however, Max faced the crowd of campers, and flipped them off before leaving.

“Don’t get too stressed about this, Max. They’re just showing their support,” Nikki said, trying to calm Max down, who was still glaring and breathing heavily. Looking back at Nikki, Max took a couple of deep breaths.

“Yeah, I know. But them showing their support is really fucking annoying,” Max mumbled, still trying to calm down. Nikki grabbed his hand and smiled at him.

“Don’t let it get to you, Max. We’ve got a day to spend together, and I don’t want you all stressed and angry while we’re on our date,” Nikki responded with a smirk on her face, causing Max to blush at the word ‘date’. Max looked away from Nikki so she wouldn’t see him blush, but also tightened his grip on her hand.

“I’ll try,” Max mumbled while they continued on their way through the forest.
