Well, it is ultimately your choice. But if at some point some jackass does decide that you require surgery, find a decent doc. I've seen some poor chick with serious scoliosis that got operated by the doctor from Frankenstein, and it looked like a Freddy Krueger X-Ray after he was done.
Stay away from crappy doctors.

I should say so, I can't imagine people drilling shards of metal into your spine (and to top it off: do it incorrectly!) helps with the pain. Personally, I would kill her doctors.
Still, there it is. As far as "medical advice from the internet" goes, be careful of what doctors you pick seems the most sound.

Muscular, yes. Don't know if it's the same thing. I've never needed a brace and didn't really trouble me until 5-6 yeas ago, but my pictures look the same.

I guess I mean I don't know if our experience has been the same. I was not even aware of the condition until I failed my first military physical (I was later granted a waiver, but I had to write to the President to get it). And, my condition never caused me any difficulty until a few years ago; I can no longer walk long distances or stand for long periods.

My condition is rather complicated, since it could have been caused
by anything. I have a lot of contributing factors, in a sense. When
I was about 2, I took a pretty serious fall that could have had something
to do with it. When I was 10, I broke my tail bone rather clean. Also,
most of my family has my condition, so it could also be hereditary.
So, no one really knows what could have caused it! I found out about it
when I had just turned 11, but turns out, I had had it since I was 6 is
what they told me.
I can't walk very long distances either, though lately I've been working on
that, and am getting better. In the summer I walk four miles every morning
on a trail, which has been great considering how much my condition used to
restrict me. I swim a lot too, and that has really helped! Standing is a
whole different story, though. I can't usually stand for more then 10 minutes,
and that hasn't changed since I was very little. Some stuff you just have
to take with a grain of salt though, I guess!
I hope your condition doesn't cause you too much pain, though.

My legs are a little off as well! Not so much lately,
but still, a little bit so. Thank you! I've always
been a really resilient person, I don't settle for, and
if I'm affected my some condition, I'm going to make the
best of it! Or at least, that's what I try my hardest to
do. To be honest, I'm not too much of a hiking fan, but
in the morning when it's cool outside, all the dogs are out
and it's so quiet. It's a great escape and does wonderful
toning work on the legs! haha.
I've noticed compared to how I was about two years ago back
muscle wise, I can do a lot more now then I could before.
Swimming has helped so much, too, so I definitely would suggest
that if you ever get the chance. My back muscles are not much
to brag about, but I can say that ever since I've been working
on them, everything has become easier. I have a 60-ish curve
(down from 108!!!) so that's kinda saying something! haha.
I go to a chiropractor every two weeks, and a orthopedic massage
therapist every week, and that has helped greatly as well!
As long as it's not debilitating (I remember those days!) then good
on you!
Thank you! Ditto!

I to have scoliosis as well..it ain't fun thats for sure. I was diagnosed a year ago and the docs told me my spine was 32 or 36 degrees and that I was lucky because I stopped growing. Every now and then my back starts to hurt but you eventually get used to it. I hope you recover well. ^_^

I've been living with Scoliosis for about 8yrs now, so I know what you mean!
I'm so glad you stopped growing, so that the curve did as well!
How tall are you?

You're welcome!
I saw one of your other pictures with the chair, I found that so interesting how the treatment is to pull you in the opposite way that you spine is, I really like medical stuff... I want to be in health care when I get older it's so interesting!
