It's amazing how these characters really took off in popularity. Why is it that the background characters always seem to be more interesting then the lead ones?

I'm not quite sure why background characters get more attention. It could be because they can usually be a bit more fun, since the lead character has to be a bit more "regular" in order for more people to identify with them, so the secondary characters get to be zany and fun! X3

I think you hit the nail on the head. I guess that's why I like games that you can make your own lead character. That way you can have a lead character that isn't bland (to you) and a bunch of neat secondary characters.

I've met a lot of people who don't express themselves very well. I don't express myself well quite often. I think that's a quite common occurrence, more common than we think.
Hmm, it can come from a lot of places. Sometimes I get the idea in my head already, and sometimes I'll be looking at a picture and think it's cool, but want to try something different from it. I often go with the mood first. I wanted a really relaxed, really familiar picture for this one, and it made sense to have them all huddled and wrapped around each other. :3

Yes, it did. Not to turn the conversation to me and my needs, which is what I'm about to do, but that's the kind of thing that needs to cultivate in my brain. Mood is the key of what you said I think, what people do in certain circumstances of mutual emotions.
As a matter of interest, I fancy some chocolate, you know. But my Christmas supply is dry T-T
