This didn't mean the idea was dead, however, and their current action plan was quite a bit more straightforward; Use a magical girl as raw material from which a somewhat better adjusted recruiter can be made. Homura, or Kyubey, as the test subject's new name went, had become rabidly competitive incubator who sought to maximize the number of girls they could turn into magical girls in the shortest amount of time, opting to turn back time if less than optimal results befell her.

Even so, the Incubators decided not to scrap the program, as the obscene amount of energy gathered and number of contracts sealed by the former magical girl assuaged any concerns they might have had.
