im guessing this is after ponyville but before her second coming... all trixie did in the first episode was boast, she did nothing wrong, it was the... i cant think of a nice name for them... kids that brought the danger. if i remember right, trixie admitted to lying, but still at the very least tried to help the situation.

That's something I always found stupid/annoying about people's take on Trixie...
People not getting that people/ponies wouldn't care for ''shit'' about the whole Ursa Minor thing and that, apparently, no one in the universe understand the principles being a Story Teller and a Stage Magician. -_-

I think it's the fact that Trixie was rather insulting, more than that she was 'bragging', which is to be expected of a stage act like that so I'm completely with you there.
I also find it rather silly that /nobody/ ever remembers the mane six and all the things they do, but /everybody/ seems to remember Trixie and her little mishap.

The shopkeeper is lucky that he didn't run into Inferno Flame(queen of the flames and inferno) when he insulted Trixie. This is probably what will happen.
Inferno: *getting angry* *turns into Inferno Blaze(Inferno version of Nightmare Moon exept she's not a villain Inferno Blaze is just Inferno being very VERY angry. her hair turns into pure fire)*
Shopkeeper: *in the middle of insulting Trixie*

Um, I have to agree with Siansaar, the idea of this scene isn't necessarily bad, but it's just executed a bit too ham-fisted and forced. I can't help but feel like you had the shop owner forcibly behave overly mean and bullying so to give the excuse for Maud to 'stand up for Trixie' all in just one page.
