This is just gorgeous! The dominate yellow set off by black is a winning combination - especially with a setting like this! Your off center placement with the boat creatures an even more charming and interesting photo. The palm trees make a most interesting background, and are a quality that set this apart from many other boat photos. My only qualms with this are the strange way the water is kind of blurry near the bottom border (the rest of the photo is wonderfully clear) and the faint, faint building on the right there - it looks kind of out of place with your beautiful scene. I am under the impression though that neither could be helped.Great job, great photo!

Thank you!The focus on the ripples at the bottom of the photo is the natural falling off caused by depth of field. Because it causes the eye to be driven upward toward the subject (the felucca), I thought it worth keeping, but I can see how it might clash with the rest of the composition.I did notice the building spire, but I have a personal policy about not doing photo-manipulation stuff, just making the kinds of adjustments you could make in a traditional darkroom. Helps to keep my photography grounded in reality, and teach me to be a better photographer in the field. (I hate the whole "fix it in post" mentality) Very good eyes, to notice it amongst all the palms!

Aw, I see now. I must admit an admiration of your goal - to deprive yourself of the Photoshop type tactics (shall we call it first aid and bandages?) would indeed force you to improve - and it sure appears to be working!
