Audunn hadn't encounter so much as a bat despite all the rumors he had overheard from passing animals chittering about the moon. Even going so far as to cut his hindquarters on a jutting rock, which again wasn't enough to lure anything in for the male to see for himself. He didn't know how long he stood atop the cliff side overlooking the snow covered pine-forest, eventually emitting a frustrated huff as he climbed from the snow covered slopes, his destination to be the Cave of wonder next. If anything he could lick his wound and practice jumping over rocks and fallen trees. Do something useful with the time he otherwise was wasting spectacularly in pursuit of fairy tales and rumors.
"How silly am I? This is a mare's tale for sleipnir's sake.." The draft grumbled at his own naive excitement as he cautiously climbed down a path that led into one of the many warm caverns. Leafy vines draped from the ceiling threatening to ensnare him if he didn't pay them mind. A jerk of his head was enough to snap one he took with his teeth, letting the cut ends fall off into the shadows of the cave entrance. Inside it smelt damp, like moss and leaf litter. Something not quite pleasant but comforting all the same. Who cared if it smelt like stale water? It was warm and that was better than running around in the snow till sunrise.

A large flat rock loomed ahead of his path, illuminated by the fading light of the cave mouth, green little tufts of moss, lichen and the like forming a soft blanket atop the sun-facing side. He approached and considered circling the stone, seeing how far he'd have to jump to avoid catching a hoof in the slippery mosses and tumbling into some soggy corner of the cave. With a snort and a little buck of his rear legs, Audunn turned about, trudging with heavy strides a few feet from his jumping rock. At which point he turned about again, flicking his tail before taking off in a run- a painfully and rather embarrassingly slow run, but the best he could manage- legs lifting from the ground as he took the first leap over head to land soundly on the other side.

He promised himself to do at least ten, perhaps twenty jumps if he still had the energy for it. It wasn't like anything would happen if he slacked off from his own little goals but this gave him something to occupy his time and blotted out the quiet around him with the sounds of exertion.
