Description

Since the straya Pokemon stuff kinda blew up and so many people were having fun with the idea, I decided to tackle some concepts for a bit of tongue in cheek but also a little serious take on aussie Pokemon starters.

Skippee > Wallaboom > Kangarang (latter two names thanks to @rosy_maple_moth )

Skippee is a grass type Kangaroo Pokemon, with the boomerang tail based off the dreamtime story of how the Roo's got their tails. The colours are largely based off the socceroo's mascot, with their feet based off soccer shoes. The name, Skippee, is of course a play on "yippee" and "Skippy" - the Kangaroo. I quite like how simple Skippee looks. Kangarang took forever to design and I needed a lot of help.

Pladdle > Bogano > Bondiver

Pladdle is a beginner swimmer platypus. At first, I wasn't sure about the overdone idea of a platypus starter but as the ideas flowed, I couldn't resist. The markings are sunscreen and the head of Pladdle is based off a swimmer cap mixed with those hats with ear flaps. Then there's a bogan-styled mullet and singlet shaped pattern. The colours are from Bondi Rescue's outfit, each tail based off kickboards, bodyboards and surfboards, respectively.

Scorcht > Hissleep > Venolistic

Now that the zodiac theory is almost confirmed, I went with a snake for the fire starter. It also works with an "aussie based region". Scorcht is irritated and sleep deprived, Hissleep is always sleepy and Venolistic is a party maniac. Venolistic's design is based off the sydney harbour bridge NYE fireworks, and each stage is a different stage of "partying too hard". They are Red bellied black snakes.
