I danced away from his question, "You look terrible," I murmured, reaching out to stroke his face.
He moved out of my reach. "I was worried about you,"
His words put a lump in my throat. I was so close to getting him back, but this would be my last night with him.
"You were gone for so long. I thought you might not come back,"
"I was busy," was all I could say.
"Mikey told me you had given birth. I want to see her. I want to see my daughter,"
"I'll bring her here for you," I didn't look at him as I said this.

I left the room. My mind was racing. Maybe he would love her like I did. This was the most I could ask for. I wanted Bandit to have the best future possible. I would leave tomorrow, and I wouldn't be coming back. If she had her father; that might fill the hole my death would leave behind.
Was it too much to ask for her father to love her?

I found Bandit with Exterminator Solar; she would take my place as Bandit's mother when I died.
She smiled at me and wished me the best of luck with Gerard. She would make a great mother for Bandit.

I stood outside the door of Gerard's room for a moment, trying to get a hold of my racing thoughts.
I closed my eyes and prayed for the best.
