"She looks like a stallion - and acts like one too. Incredibly arrogant, she's a real pusher and shover, and this applies to the bums in front of her during a race, we've found. Rivals Alexandra Silk in manners, and this has led her to have to redo barrier trials at least twice. She's been a risk, and hopefully she pays off - she's definitely got the potential and speed, and although she gets worked up in barriers, leaving her to be a bit of a slow starter, we've found that if she can hang on the end of the pack, she's got a wonderful driving finish."

Hey, very nice skill system, i really like the design and most of the skill themes.
But I would try not to pick features that can be divided into "good feature - bad feature" and stay more neutral. Like opposites like "stayer" "sprinter" - where both sides have their pro's and contra's.
Most HArpg players would never give their horses "bad" features, so it's better to stay neutral and find features that aren't only good or only bad.
For TB's, a heavier build horse may have enormous power on short distances and a great acceleration, but their muscles will weaken soon because of their heavy weight, while a lighter horse isn't that fast on short distances but is able to keep the speed over a long period of time.
I'm not that into Racing yo I don't have more examples, but I guess you got the point.

Okay, I swear this is the third time I've replied to this. But anyway. Here we go (:
Thankyou for the indepth reply - I really appreciate it! As for the good vs bad traits of the horse, I found it difficult to create features without this occuring, whilst keeping the authenticity there of how it would be in real life racing. So to compensate I made sure where I could that all of my horses were not wholly good or wholly bad at everything. Some horses for example would have a great driving finish, but be anxious in the barriers, therefore detracting from their performance by being a slow starter.
I'll keep your suggestion in mind though (: This skill system is only a first step to other improvements, and it will most likely change. Thanks so much!

Jeah I've thought about alternatives to your skills, as well, but you're right, in racing it's hard to find opposed skills that aren't good-bad.
I guess your system is pretty much the best solution one can find for racing. People just need to be aware of the fact that they shouldn't only pick the good skills, that would be so boring
